Amitabh Bachan Biography

Name: Amitabh Bachchan
Star Sign: Libra
Height: 6'2"
Mother: Teji Bachchan
Father: Harivansh Rai Bachchan
Spouse: Jaya Bhaduri
Children: son Abhishek and daughter Shweta
Philosophy of life: If things happen as you wish it's good, if they do not it's better
Favourite film: Ganga Jamuna and Pyaasa

Amitabh Bachchan, the Bollywood's biggest icon was born on October 11, 1942 in Allahabad. He is the son of late poet Harivansh Rai Bachchan and Teji Bachchan. Amitabh Bachchan did his schooling from Sherwood College, Nainital and later on pursued a degree in science from the Delhi University.

His first job was in Shaw Wallace and later worked as a freight broker for a shipping firm called Bird and Co. But his destiny had something else to offer and it was the journey to stardom. He made his debut in the film Saat Hindustani (1969) which was directed by K.A. Abbas. Film failed on the box-office but Amitabh was noticed by film makers like Hrishikesh Mukherji and Sunil Dutt. Hrishikesh Mukherji (whom Amitabh treat as his Godfather),gave him a role in his two films, Anand and Guddi. Anand was the third film, which became a hit and he got best supporting actor filmfare award. Amitabh was getting the roles but they were not significant. Finally he got a chance to work in "Zanjeer", role for which he was not the first choice. Film turned out to be super-hit. By then a new avatar had emerged on silver screen, an "Angry young man". But this was his one aspect. He was a poet (Kabhi Kabhi), an decent professor (Kasme Vaade), a comedian (Chupke Chupke, Amar Akbar Anthony, Don), a dying lover (Mukaddar Ka Sikander). He did almost all kinds of roles.

In 1973, after release of Zanjeer, Amitabh got married with Jaya Bhaduri. He became father at the time of release of Chupke Chupke. During the shooting of "Coolie" on 26th July 1982, he was injured and admitted to Breech Candy hospital. The whole nation prayed for his fast recovery and by the grace of God he was gifted with a new life. Mrs. Indira Gandhi, then P.M. of India, postponed her foreign trip and visited the hospital. After recovery Amitabh returned on silver screen, with Sharabi and Giraftar like hit movies. In the original script of "Coolie" Iqbal (Amitabh) had to die but Teji Bachchan asked Manmohan Desai to change it for her personal reasons. The last scene where he stands in the balcony and thank the people, was the real scene, a way to thank the people of India, "Main to chala gaya tha, laut aaya hoon to bus aapki duaon se...."

Amitabh also tried his hand in politics in 1984 after the death of Mrs. Gandhi. He defeated the then called Chankya of the Indian politics, Mr. Hemvanti Nandan Bahuguna. But some how things went wrong and he got trapped in the dirty game of politics of anti-Rajiv Gandhi. Although during this period his classics "Main Azad Hoon" and "Agneepath" were released, but Amitabh was getting older. Amitabh decided to take a break in 1992, Khuda Gawah was the last release.

He then launched ABCL which was a multi-faceted commercial enterprise. This was the major failure and he was surrounded by unthinkable debt. This is hard to imagine at that time how he survived but again he proved that he is not an ordinary man who live and die. With "Kaun Banega Crorepati" and "Mohabattein" he redefined his position in Indian cinema. Amitabh emerged again as a winner and slapped the critics who declared him "finished".

Even in this age roles are written for him. Every film maker is dreaming to cast him in his/her film. He was declared as Star of the Millenium by BBC poll, by Stardust and even at the survey for statue at Madam Tusad. These are not mere coincident! May God bless him.

Chiru feel happy for his son sucess

There are many reports coming out on a daily basis on Charan Tej’s debut film Chirutha All this is said to have made papa Chiranjeevi a much-worried man. First, the talk was about the re-shooting of some scenes. And later, it was about the news that the film was a remake of some German film and that the story was not original. After that came news about the trailers. Chiru was not pleased and he had asked them to stop airing them. And now, reports say that even the posters for Chirutha are not good. Even the posters are said to have been copied from a film starring Kevin Costner. And to add to these woes, the film’s release has been postponed several times. This has only added credence to the rumours. But the truth about all the issues will come out finally on September 28, when Chirhtha finally hits the screen.

About megastar

The sense of descipline and hard work which he still embraces were introduced at a very young age in his life and the tough childhood he had being the eldest in his family have helped him to handle many such events of higher proportion with great expertise in the later stages of his life.

Little did he imagine, even in the wildest of his dreams, that he would, one day, be a Megastar and rule the Telugu Film Industry. Years later, this youngster called "Chiru" in the Film Industry , with his hard work and dedication to his proffession, could make it really big in the field hitting the limelight, with an unparallel fan following emulating his every act, word, dress and dance. What makes this ordinary human being such an extraordinary one - god knows After graduation, Chiranjeevi moved to Madras to seek a career in his chosen field of acting in the Film Industry. To get himself ready for the stage, he joined in an acting school in Madras. After struggling for some time, he took to acting by appearing in small roles in films like "Pranam Kareedu" and "Punadhi Rallu". He, from that modest beginning to this date, has acted in 132 films. Throughout his career he has been through a lot of ups and downs but every time he came back with extra persevrance and won his way through people's hearts with wonderful performances in his films. Chiranjeevi got married to Surekha, the daughter of veteran actor sri "Allu Ramalingaiah". Chiru has always been a family man - being blessed with two daughters Sushmita & Srija and a son Ramcharan Tej.

And as Chiru becomes the most popular hero, he has lived a royal life, travelled widely from one country to another around the world almost every time in the delightful company of filmi celebreties who act, sing and dance with him. He acted in a lot of best movies to date and had been able to deliver splendid action-packed movies. With all these talents in him, it isn't a big surprise to know that he has been one of the highest paid movie actors in the Indian Film Industry. Be it actor, star or megastar - Chiranjeevi has been acknowledged as being one of the most successful actors in the history of the Telugu Motion Picture Industry. We, in our site, would like to highlight the remarkable work Chiranjeevi has shared with the movie-going-public for the last 20 years. ENJOY!
As Chiranjeevi completes 20 years of his entry into the films and in all the achievements and honors, there's no sign of pride but he's still going successfully with a string of hit films. Chiru tells his fan association: " Among the many skilled performers who toil in front of the camera, only a few are excellent actors. A fewer still are those with the vague and elusive traits we call star quality. At the intersection of these groups is the most selected group of all, a tiny number among whom Chiranjeevi stands out. The reality is - i am an actor. My fans perceive me as a Megastar".

Above all, on Oct 02 1998 he started Chiranjeevi Eye & Blood Bank and Charitable Trust to give back to the people whatever he could on the humanitarian ground thus demonstrating a new dimension in his personality.
The first film Chiranjeevi acted was when he was in the Film Institute itself. The role was supposed to have been done by a friend of him, "Sudhakar". But as he was under a contract with "Bharathi Raja" then, he could not act in that film. It was recommended by him to act in that film. He got the permission from principal, "Y.G. Partha Sarathi" and then acted in that film. One of the producers sri "Kranthi Kumar" saw the film and booked him for another black and white art film. It was released on 22nd Sep 1988. Sri "K. Bala Chander " and "K. Bapu" were also there to watch the preview of the movie. Afterwards, they signed him for their next films.

He acted in so many films but never thought of the sizes of roles that he was offered that he had taken all the roles as a challenge and given his best including the guest roles and villainy roles in his starring career. In 1983, Khaidi was released. It was a history in the Tollywood and on that day onwards, there was no looking back for Chiranjeevi, the "Megastar", that he was, all of a sudden, transformed into a "Supreme Hero".
So long a way from "Supreme Hero" to "Mega Star" today.
